National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada

Updated: Dec 8, 2023

Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. On this day, I will reflect on the injustices of the past, and those of the present. I hope to be an ally to the Indigenous Peoples of Canada in their fight for justice.

I would like to share an article that I read for the first time many years ago by Dr. Malcolm King, Dr. Alexandra King and Michael Gracey entitled: "Indigenous Health Part 2: The Underlying Causes of the Health Gap". I remember reading this in University and find myself returning to it time and time again. It serves as a reminder to me, that as a society, there is much work to be done to support the Indigenous Peoples, in the various societal structures which promote inequity in health and other fundamental areas of life.
